Bush reviews hurricane, beats war drum

"We look at the destruction caused by Katrina, and our hearts break," he [Bush] said. Turning the subject to terrorists, he said: "They're the kind of people who look at Katrina and wish they had caused it. We're in a war against these people."

The above is quoted from the NY Times. I question the wisdom of this, because it another example of Bush dehumanizing the enemy. "We're pro-life" the Administration states, "we think that fetuses are human beings, but terrorists are not human, they are animals." What really bothers me is that this is a thinly veiled attempt to restore the bonhomie the world showed us after the 9/11 attacks. Bush had most of the world behind him, and blew it. He wants the world to support him in Iraq because of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, ignoring the lack of aid he sent to the tsunami victims. Other countries have been hit with bigger natural disasters, and Bush didn't do anything until he was shamed into action, and his action was pathetic.
Yes, there are protesters heading to Washington this weekend to ask the President to stop the occupation in Iraq. I'm sure Bush wants to sheild himself from it all, but he has yet to accept the fact that he is the commander in cheif for EVERY American.
