Bush and the Democratic Press

Supposedly one of the things President Bush wants to impress upon Putin is the importance of a free press. This coming from a man whose administration is paying journalists to shill for their programs and let a gay male prostitute into the press corps to ask slowball and partisan questions that labeled Democrats as 'divorced from reality.'
Am I the only one who finds this to be hypocritical?
