Unity by shutting up

I'm getting tired of hearing conservative pundits in this country talk about how Bush unified the country, so all of us progressives should shut up and quit whining. In the linked article, Fred Barnes is quoted as saying
"Nobody likes a sore loser." And they act like sore losers. You know, they did lose the election. They have to accept that and move on.
David Reinhard of the Oregonian used this as the main theme for a recent editorial. I can't remember the number of times I've heard this idea broadcast or reported.
It's very simple: This country was founded with the idea of free speech. Bush and his cronies cannot tell us to shut up and then claim he's unified the country. The President does not have a mandate. Calling Democrats who fight for what they believe in obstructionist or anti-american doesn't help the unification of America. It only divides us further.
I'm just waiting for the conservative pundits to start saying "Liberals: Double plus ungood."
