Hunting Muses
Since I've been avoiding the job hunt lately I've been hunting Muses. On the theory that I'd like to find a way to make money without actually working, I've been writing and doing more artwork than I have in months. There's been this big brou-ha-ha over the new movie about King Arthur and I saw an image of a sword in a stone. Very typical reaction, I'll grant you, but I spent the better part of three days working on the image and I'm almost completely satisfied with it. I'm working on the sword now. I'm working in POV-Ray, my favorite medium, and I'm creating a small forest with Gilles Tran's Maketree macro and a few mirrors. I'm fighting with the code to give me a nice round shape in the quillions. Adjusting a linear spline to a bezier spline is a lot of painful work. The most frustrating thing is that I described 20 points on the curve, and I'll need to define another 38 points to describe the bezier curve before I can even test it.
Oddly enough, I've also been working with watercolors. I've only done a few small pieces that are tests of what I can do with the paint, but I'm having fun doing it.
